BORA - hansgrohe are chasing a strong result at the Vuelta a Espana, however their mountain support team has suffered a hit today as the team announced Emanuel Buchmann would not be taking part in it.
The German is suffering from an urinary tract infection and will not be able to take to the start in Utrecht. He's played a crucial support role for Jai Hindley back in May at the Giro d'Italia and was expected to have a similar job in Spain - supporting Sergio Higuita aswell. He finished the Giro in seventh place despite his role.
Buchmann will be replaced by Matteo Fabbro who was on the shortlist for the race, but was initially decided out as the team opted to have Sam Bennett present in the race and will see several leadout men alongside him.
Fabbro is a talented climber who has also been part of Hindley's win in May, and will be filling in for the spot that Buchmann was supposed to have. The race will start this Friday in Utrecht with a team time-trial, and will have three days of racing in the Netherlands before travelling back to Spain.
