Bas Tietema had a less-than-ideal day on Thursday when he was forced to pull out of the Olympia's Tour during the second stage.
“I feel pretty shitty about this,” Tietema said in the video. He continues, “We are here with some guys who can win here. I know I'm not the best sportingly, but I think I have quite an important value in the team by making it a whole."
The course was not particularly demanding in terms of climbs, but the wind was a persistent issue. “I was quite nervous about that. To me that just sucks, because I'm just not good enough. It's super nice for those other guys, because they're super strong. They can then make the course.” The social media start led the creation of TDT-Unibet where he's been racing himself, but alongside it also came the struggles of being a pro cyclist.
“I do have doubts anyway. The pleasure of riding at this level quickly diminishes, but it is super nice how those guys drive. It's not that I want to keep riding races just to keep riding, but I think. In the Ster van Zwolle, For example, I had a nice role. But at the moment the level is just not good enough,” concluded Tietema.
