The Baloise Belgium Tour has ended today. Stage 5 provided a golden opportunity for the sprinters in the city of Brugges and it was Tim Merlier who won the battle against Jasper Philipsen in the final stage.
The finale of the stage saw the breakaway get caught but despite that, there were a few attacks towards the finale of the stage. Philipsen will race the Tour de France soon but he has been beaten by his former teammate and new main rival in the sprints Tim Merlier, who convincingly won the final uphill sprint. Tom van Asbroeck of Israel - Premier Tech rode to a very surprising third place in the final sprint.
