Tobias Johannessen is perhaps having the most difficult start of season out of any top rider. Recently an early celebration saw him lose the Classic Var literally on the finish line, and at the Tour des Alpes Maritimes he has crashed, suffering a collarbone fracture.
After a few strong results in Spain, the Uno-X Mobility rider has not had the best of luck out of his short trip to France. In the space of 48 hours he had suffered two massive setbacks. Currently, it is not known when the 24-year old can return to competition, but the spring stage-races and classics are all at risk for the time being.
"Tobias Johanessen crashed during today’s stage of the Tour des Alpes Maritimes and has sustained a collarbone fracture, confirmed by X-rays at the hospital in Nice this evening," the Norwegian team shared in social media last night. "He is scheduled for a consultation tomorrow with a specialist to decide on the treatment plan.
We appreciate your support for Tobias’s swift recovery."
