'As of a few days ago, three teams were looking at Pidcock' - Update on Tom Pidcock's situation following INEOS' Lombardia snub

The season is close to ending but the fireworks continue in the world of cycling. After a rocky season, it seems like a trigger has been pulled in the relationship between INEOS Grenadiers and Tom Pidcock. The Briton was removed from Il Lombardia where he was meant to be the team leader and podium contender, and his future looks to be more open than ever.

This despite his three years of contract remaining with the British team. His non-selection came as a shock following his recent performances and any logical reason. Pidcock himself has written in a post, right after the lineup reveal, that "I am in great shape and was really looking forwarded to it" which means it was in no way a two-sided decision. This was fully the team's decision but the question is why. A lot of speculation is naturally rising in social media, specially after this week it was reported that the Briton could be leaving this winter and joining possibly Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team.

Journalist Daniel Benson has reached out to Pidcock's agent who has denied the most dramatic scenario, but that there was no reason given for his Lombardia snub (which makes it clear that there is currently a dispute within the team's management side.

"Pidcock's agent has denied that his rider has been fired by Ineos Grenadiers - something I'd heard twice in the last 30 minutes. According to the agent, Pidcock was de-selected from Il Lombardia for no reason given," Benson wrote.

Minutes later he would update, confirming that it's not only Q36.5 that is interested in the Briton. "In terms of a transfer, as far I know there's no three-party agreement yet in place between Ineos, Pidcock and another team... As of a few days ago, three teams were looking at Pidcock."
