Arnaud De Lie will resume competition on Sunday April 28 at the Famenne Ardenne Classic. The Belgian news agency Belga reports this to Het Nieuwsblad. De Lie was allowed to resume training last week after the 22-year-old Lotto-Dstny rider was diagnosed with Lyme disease.
De Lie's last day of racing dates back to March 24, when he finished 90th in Gent Wevelgem. It later turned out that he had contracted Lyme disease, which was ultimately the cause of his poor results. "After new medical tests, which showed that the traces of the disease are fading, he was given the green light on Thursday," are the latest news.
"The disease has different stages. In Arnaud's case, it was discovered in time and the treatment worked. So he will come to the Famenne-Ardenne Classic in acceptable shape. It won't be optimal, but he doesn't need many kilometers to get back to a good level."
After the Famenne Ardenne Classic, De Lie will continue two competitions in Brittany: the Grand Prix du Morbihan on May 4 and a day later the Tro Bro Léon. "We will then determine the rest of his program," the team concludes. Afterwards, the Tour de Suisse (June 9-18) and the Tour de France (June 29-July 21) are currently on his schedule.
