The third day of racing at the UAE Tour Women was again flat, but this time around the breakaway eluded the peloton. Amber Kraak took a tight and dramatic win, holding off the peloton just by a few seconds.
The day's breakaway on the flat day included Monica Greenwood, Sophie Wright and Amber Kraak. It was a move that ordinarily would not be overly dangerous, but the trio measured their efforts perfectly and soared into the final 20 kilometers with two minutes of lead.
The high speeds made it hard for the peloton to chase them back. Kraak went solo with just over 5 kilometers to go. Carina Schrempf attacked from the peloton as the two other breakaway survivors were caught. It was a dramatic finale but Kraak held on for a brilliant solo victory in the end. Lorena Wiebes sprinted to second place as the peloton saw several riders go down in the final meters including Elisa Longo Borghini and Gaia Realini.
