Alexander Kristoff has taken victory on the opening stage of the 2024 Arctic Race of Norway, moving into the leader's jersey as a result.
Five men got themselves up the road to form the breakaway, most notable of who was Lotto Dstny's Pascal Eenkhoorn. Having been kept on a relatively tight leash all day, with just over 40km to go, the breakaway were already swallowed up by the peloton. Soon after though, a counter attack saw Eivind Broholt Fougner reignite the breakaway solo.
Heading into the final 10 kilometres however, the peloton were all together. With the day coming down to a bunch sprint, in the end it was Uno-X Mobility's Alexander Kristoff who prevailed ahead of Milan Fretin.
