"After my accident, I just wanted to get back to normal life and enjoy myself" - Alvaro Hodeg on track to racing after 12 surgeries

Team UAE Emirates rider Álvaro José Hodeg has been off the bike for almost a year after his accident the last December. Now he has recovered and is ready to become a part of the peloton once again.

A car hit him during a training session and caused him injuries. In the aftermath, he sustained multiple injuries to his ankle, wrist, and shoulder. After battling an infection and undergoing multiple surgeries, he was able to recover. The accident required several months of recovery, and at one point, he was even fearing for his walking capabilities.

He shared some thoughts that occurred during his recovery period with the director of EF Coaching, Zach Morris. He revealed he had to undergo “12 surgeries” after the accident. He continues, "What can I say? Enjoy every day, life is only one. Every day try to make your dreams come true because one day you're alive, and the next you're gone."

Hodeg was thinking about his future as a cyclist, "After my accident, which was very hard, I just wanted to get back to normal life and enjoy myself. Just to go out and do some sport," concluded Hodeg. He plans to return to training and prepare for the next season soon.
