Germany has revealed it's full lineup for the upcoming European championships, set to take place in the country's city of Munich, and it will aim high in the road events.
With a road race favouring the sprinters, with a bunch sprint expected at the end, the nation brings in two options, riders that have recently shown great form. Both Pascal Ackermann and Phil Bauhaus will be present, both stage winners at the recent Tour de Pologne where they have prepared not only for the Europeans, but the upcoming BEMER Cyclassics which is likely to have a similar set of riders.
The duo will have the support of a team built around them, however tactics may get chaotic as several teams will have more than one option. Germany however has a lot of firepower in it's leadout, fully built of powerful riders, some of them expert leadout men. Max Walscheid, who will be racing the ITT the following days, will be a key rider. He will be joined by Lotto Soudal's Roger Kluge and Michael Schwarzmann, DSM's John Degenkolb and Nico Denze, and the rouleur duo of Nils Politt and Alexander Krieger.
In the women's race the team will only have three options, with Lianne Lippert, Lisa Brennauer and Lisa Klein set to carry the home colours through the road race. Brennauer and Klein will also be riding the time-trial, in hopes of obtaining a medal.
