Ex-cycling professional Tom Dumoulin was a guest on the podcast In het Wiel last week to talk about nutrition in cycling. The Limburger has now become an ambassador for the company EatMyRide, which focuses on personalized nutritional advice for professionals and athletes.
"In my early years as a professional, it was an art to eat as little as possible before training," the 2017 Giro winner said in the podcast. "Eating less makes you lighter. That way I taught my body to burn fats. The idea was: the fewer carbohydrates I give my body, the more efficiently my body should use them."
Dumoulin now uses his expertise from the peloton to support other endurance athletes through EatMyRide, the company announced. "I am convinced that good nutrition has been the biggest gain in professional cycling in recent years," said Dumoulin. With EatMyRide, personalized nutritional advice, aimed at optimal sports performance, is also available for amateur athletes. "The EatMyRide app can help enormously to get a better feeling and more knowledge about what you should eat before, during and after cycling."
As an ambassador of EatMyRide, Dumoulin will share his experiences and inspire athletes, with which he hopes to inspire other athletes to eat and perform optimally.
