While most top cyclo-cross riders are preparing for the European Championship on Sunday, on the other side of Spain it's the cyclocross king Mathieu van der Poel taking some well-deserved time to recover from his busy road schedule of the past few months.
However, sitting still is not quite an option for the Dutch all-rounder who entertains himself with all sorts of other activities in the meantime. For example, he even competed against a rally car in a Spanish criterium.
The running shoes have also been taken out of the closet several times and in the Belgian press there is even speculation about a participation in the Alicante half marathon, but Mathieu usually does not leave the bike still for long. We have already seen him on his gravel bike and now he is on the road with father Adrie, who has also been staying in Spain for some time.
Most recently, the two have taken out their road bikes for a family spin with Mathieu quoting the ride with a simple "Daddy cool" on his social media.
