Zoe Clay, 23, died after suffering severe injuries in a fatal accident during Sunday's mountain bike race 'King and Queen of the Watershed' in Greensboro, North Carolina, about 100 miles northwest of Charlotte.
Her family has begun raising money for medical and funeral expenses via GoFundMe. The campaign created just 24 hours ago has already reached more than $38,000 of its $50,000 goal.

"All funds raised will go directly to Zoe's family," the GoFundMe page says. Tributes for the young athlete based in Winston-Salem, about 25 miles west of Greensboro, quickly poured in on social media.
