Olympic champion Tom Pidcock will be riding the fat tyres this coming week at the European championships, where the sprinter-friendly route in Munich the road peloton will face not attracting the attention of the Briton.
Instead Pidcock will take the opportunity to return to mountain biking briefly and attempt to gain more points to stay high in the ever-important rankings - which decide the riders' starting grid position - and also chase a title. Pidcock will be racing the XCO event at the European championships, with men's and women's races taking place on the 19th and 20th of August.
After taking time off after a successful debut Tour de France, where he won the summit finish at Alpe d'Huez, Pidcock has returned to the bike, and has been training in his base at Andorra - where he's shared a video riding the MTB under a hail shower recently.
Pidcock's short return to MTB back in May proved incredibly successful, with wins at both Albstadt and Nove Mesto, before he switched his focus back onto the road and the Grand Boucle.
