"Nothing broken by a miracle" - Loana Lecomte on brutal Olympics crash but hoping to be racing again within a few weeks

The Olympic Games thus far have had an unfortunate amount of crashes. The time-trials on the road were heavily affected by rain and several riders fell, but on the Mountain Bike events fans were also scared after seeing French rider Loana Lecomte crash and lose consciousness. However, Lecomte has bounced back, despite her injuries, and has provided an update whilst in a good mood in Paris.

"I have a slight concussion, a few bruises everywhere, but nothing broken by a miracle. And six stitches under my chin, so I will have a good memory of the Games," Lecomte said in a statement. "I am still under surveillance by the Federation doctor for 48 hours. And then rest for a week. It happens to fall, you have to get back up, and I will go even faster on the descent after!"

It was during a rock garden section, a technical part of the fast Paris course that the Crans-Montana World Cup race winner fell, whilst close to the front of the race. She suffered a concussion and notably a few face bruises but surprisingly managed to avoid fractures, which will ensure her recovery will be less lengthy and still allows her to think of her next goals in the upcoming weeks. The race was eventually won by her compatriot Pauline Ferrand-Prévot whilst in the men's side, fellow Frenchman Victor Koretzky was beaten by Tom Pidcock.

Lecomte's injuries are, luckily, not too serious and she is still hoping to race the World Championships in Andorra that lake place in late August, where she would be a contender for the medals in her best form. "It remains a goal, but I have to really listen to the doctor and get back into it gradually. I will do everything to arrive strong at the end of August,"
