Although he may have raced the final road race of his career, Zdenek Stybar is set to continue battling on for one more cyclocross campaign and now we know when he will make his return. Saturday 9th December in Essen.
"Cyclocross is coming," says the 37-year-old, three-time for cyclocross world champion in a post to his official Facebook page. "This Saturday, I will start in Robotland Cyclocross Essen! So who will be there? Super excited to meet the fans again!"
A longtime resident of the Essen region, Stybar once had a cross square even named after him. As such, the Czech rider will have something of a home race in his return. Having also previously announced the upcoming World Championships in Tabor are set to bring his career to an end, it will also be his final time racing in the region so the motivation will surely be high.
Notably also making his return this Saturday in Essen, is the Jumbo-Visma superstar, Wout van Aert. The Belgian will be the favourite for victory, but with the addition of Stybar, there will now be an extra challenger.
