Sanne Cant to take short break after painfully crashing out of Flamanville World Cup

The legendary Sanne Cant will be a notable absentee from the cyclocross circuit in the coming weeks. The former three-time world champion crashed out of the recent UCI World Cup round in Flamanville.

Sliding around one of the muddy bends, Cant remounted and initially tried to carry on although she was visibly in pain. Around a lap later though, that pain had become too much to bear and the 33-year-old was forced to call it a day.

“She is on an internship, where she completes an adapted program. Val di Sole was not on the program anyway," her Crelan - Corendon team have announced of the fourteen-time Belgian national champion's recovery plans. "It is still too early to decide whether she will ride the following weekend."

So far this campaign, Cant has been consistently in and around the top-10, although her day's competing for the win seem to be behind her.
