Shirin van Anrooij will be sidelined for a while with fractured rib

Last year Shirin van Anrooij won the Gavere World Cup, but this year she did not even reach the finish line. Her ribs were bothering her too much. For that reason she will also miss the upcoming crosses, she wrote on Instagram on Tuesday.
Baloise Trek Lions manager Sven Nys announced before the Superprestige Heusden-Zolder that an X-ray showed that the Van Anrooij has a rib fracture. She will therefore not participate in the next few races.
A hard blow for the Dutch lady, because she will also miss the Hulst World Cup in her home province. National coach Gerben de Knegt had already registered her for this race, but - in accordance with UCI rules - is now no longer allowed to call for a replacement.

- Yes, thank you Maria. He has a fractured skull but no pain or sequels and there should be no consequences after the small bump deflates. If anything, he is more likely to get something from the radiation he received when they “investigated” for abuse, CT scan, MRI, a dozen x-rays and he will have to have a follow up scan too. But as said, all due to childbirth, if we hadn’t noticed or worried and not taken him to emergencies, he’d have had no tests at all and instead of one to check the fracture wasn’t serious he got far more :-(Mistermaumau24-11-2024
