Wout Van Aert came, saw and conquered in the Superprestige of Heusden-Zolder, but had to do everything he could to keep his compatriot Eli Iserbyt behind him. The Pauwels Sauzen-Bingoal rider ultimately lost, but was mostly very satisfied with his own performance in an interview afterwards.
"When Wout turned onto the road with a small lead, I thought: it's all or nothing now. I had a really good day today. In the first half of the cross I couldn't even feel my legs. I recovered well from yesterday," Iserbyt refers to the Gavere World Cup.
The leader in the Superprestige did not shy away from taking the initiative and even took the lead in the final lap. "Maybe it was too much. That is youthful indiscretion," the number two answers with a wink. "I simply had no answer to Wout's acceleration anymore."
Iserbyt was mainly satisfied afterwards. Not only about the progress of his cross, but also because the overall victory in the Superprestige can hardly escape his notice. "The crosses are now close together, but I feel good and enjoy it. Hopefully I can win the Superprestige tomorrow. Then I have already ticked off one goal."
