Shirin van Anrooij on her victory at Zonhoven- "I was in a good flow, then the sand is lovely to ride through"

Shirin van Anrooij has continued her impressive streak by securing her third consecutive victory at the Zonhoven World Cup, bringing her total number of victories for the season to six.

"It wasn't easy, but I had a very good feeling," she said in the post-race interview. She demonstrated exceptional proficiency and prowess in the race."I was in control of this course, I didn't make any mistakes."

While other riders had difficulty in the sand section, van Anrooij seemed to thrive in it."I could just ride my pace. I was in a good flow, then the sand is lovely to ride through. After Koksijde, I knew that I could rely on my sand qualities and that the power sections uphill also suit me well. But I didn't expect to go solo on the second lap."

Van Anrooij's recent string of victories is a promising sign of her current form as she approaches the World Championship, but she is still unsure if she wants to compete in the elite category. "I think it will only get harder. Now I might want to ride at the elite level anyway, whereas at first, I was pretty sure I wanted to stay with the promising. During the last part of the round, I thought: people are going to ask about this. But I'm still not sure. It's a very difficult choice," concluded van Anrooij.
