"Riders asked for safety cushions the days before the race but they where ignored" - Eli Iserbyt slams race organisation of Beringen

A number of riders are set to miss the upcoming Cyclocross World Cup event in Waterloo due to injury, something Eli Iserbyt believes is down to poor race organisation.

"Sad to see 2 riders with an injury due to a lack of safety measures taken by organiser/KBWB and UCI," said the Belgian in a tweet response to an announcement of Laurens Sweeck and Fleur Moors being forced to skip the Waterloo World Cup event due to injury.

The most shocking part of this saga is that according to Iserbyt at least, riders had spoken pre-race last weekend to race organisation in Beringen about concerns over the safety or the riders on the course that was presented.

"Riders asked for safety cushions the days before the race but they where ignored," Iserbyt reveals and interestingly, Iserbyt tags the president of the CPA, Adam Hansen in his tweet. Where this will go, remains to be seen but it's not a good look for race organisers.
