Former Gravel World Champion Gianni Vermeersch has returned to the cyclocross scene in Herentals with an eighth place, and was sixth at the Exact Cross Mol. He will be using the discipline to build form towards the road season but will not race the World Championships.
The Belgian returned to racing alongside Mathieu van der Poel, Quinten Hermans and Timo Kielich in Herentals. Now with some steady results, he will keep participating in some events, building towards the national championships. This won't include any World Cup round however. Vermeersch's cyclocross season will then end on the 20th of January in Zonnebeke, before he takes some rest and begins the specific preparation towards the spring classics.
