Mathieu van der Poel storms to win in Hulst on cyclocross return

Mathieu van der Poel has scored his first win of the cyclocross season in the UCI World Cup Hulst. He beat Tom Pidcock and secured the victory.

Lars van der Haar had a nice start, but it didn’t take Mathieu van der Poel to take the lead. Van der Poel made a small mistake and lost the lead to Tom Pidcock. Laurens Sweeck and van der Haar were trying their best to stay at the front, but it was proving a big challenge for them.

This time it was Pidcock who made a mistake, and van der Poel used it to his advantage and was once again in the lead. He gained a lead of 10 seconds over Pidcock in the next two laps. The situation became worse for Pidcock as he faced a mechanical problem in the last lap and abandoned the race.

Mathieu van der Poel crossed the finish line and secured his first win of the cyclocross season.Laurens Sweeck finished second and Eli Iserbyt took the bronze.
