Mathieu Van der Poel after ending his streak of six wins at Diegem-"I just wasn't good enough"

The streak of six wins in the previous editions has ended for Mathieu Van der Poel, the Dutchmen actually started well the racing, being very active and securing a good gap to his rivals Van Aert and Pidcock but in the end he felt loss of energy.

"I tried to make the difference and I think I went best through the sand, but didn't have the legs to keep the difference" said Van der Poel in the flash interview shortly after he crossed the finish line in Diegem.

Wind was an important factor has Van der Poel stated "On the long stretch of road there was wind against, especially there you feel that".At the same time the Dutchmen refuses any excuse for his lost "You always try to win the race, but I didn't have the legs at the end. I just wasn't good enough. I didn't have the legs to win"he said.

"The busy schedule is the same for everyone. It's unfortunate, but this series (he was going for his seventh win in a row in Diegem ,ed.) also had to come to an end." he concluded clearly disappointed for his sudden collapse at the close of the race, not being sure why that keeps happening to him.
