Laurens Sweeck concluded the CX Dublin World Cup with silver in his hands.. The Crelan-Fristads rider was not able to challenge Wout van Aert and finished 20 seconds behind the Dutchman.
"I sometimes had good moments, but also had bad moments,” Sweeck said in the post-race interview. He continues, “In the final, I had another good phase and had something left. It was a really difficult race. It was very slippery from the start, and it only got worse.”
In spite of his unfavourable position, he was able to tag Van Aert on the final lap. “Several riders sat in the lead today. Position changes were constant. However, this created some tension in the race. I was not in Wout's wheel the moment he accelerated. It was then also not possible to ride even faster. The atmosphere is really great. I think the cross here does live," concluded Sweeck.
