Lars van der Haar had a solid race on the return of the UCI World Cup in Waterloo, securing himself a top-5 finish. Post-race, all the talk surrounding the Dutchman though, was regarding his mustache.
“I have been challenged to grow a moustache,” said the Baloise - Trek Lions rider in conversation with Sporza from Waterloo ahead of the race that was eventually won by Thibau Nys. “Team leader Eric Braes only allows me to remove the moustache if I win."
The problem however, is that not everyone in the van der Haar household is totally on board with the 32-year-old's new facial hair. “My wife is not very happy about it and tells me not to come home with it," he jokes. "I wonder if the locks will be changed soon.”
