"I think it's very good that they listened to our feedback" - Eli Iserbyt appreciates Maasmechelen course being adjusted

Eli Iserbyt is currently undefeated in the Superprestige. The Pauwels Sauzen-Bingoal rider also won the second race towards the classification in Ruddervoorde on Saturday. After an exciting final, he defeated Dutch champion Lars van der Haar in the final lap. It was the fourth consecutive time that Iserbyt won in Ruddervoorde.

The day after the cross in Ruddervoorde, the Maasmechelen World Cup competition is on the cross menu. Last year the course of that cross was strewn with stones, much to the dismay of Iserbyt, for example. Course builder Chris Mannaerts announced last week that as an organization they had listened to the complaints of the riders and that a (significantly) modified course will be ready on October 29, 2023.

"I think it's very good that they listened to our feedback," Iserbyt confirms. "I sent the organizer a message to thank him. It's always nice that they take the riders' wishes into account. I hope for a very nice race. There are only a few competitions in Limburg, but they always create a nice atmosphere. So I'm really looking forward to that!"

After Maasmechelen goes via the Koppenbergcross to the European Cyclo-Cross Championships, where - as already mentioned - he does not see himself as an absolute top favorite. "I am indeed preparing for the European Championship through the Koppenbergcross. It's a bit of a stretch for us, isn't it," he, like the undersigned, laughs heartily about it. "We have a super busy schedule, but that is of course only a good thing. We enjoy doing it."
