Extreme weather wrecks Cyclocross European Championships' schedule - No racing this Saturday

A new schedule to the cyclocross European Championships will be announced. Storm Ciarán has been dealing a whole lot of damage all throughout Western Europe, France included. Hence, several races will change schedule.

This was an idea that was already feared for several days as the damages from the storm were forecasted, and now felt. Not only the rain, but the extremely strong winds have been affecting the French coast - and Pontchâteau is right by the sea in Bretagne. This Friday will see the Mixed Relay event take place, however race organizers have as a precaution postponed racing for this Saturday.

The Women Junior, Men Under-23 and Women Elite events were to take place during this Saturday but the weather conditions will be too difficult. "Due to the extreme weather conditions forecast in Western France, the local authorities (Prefet de la Loire-Atlantique) have decreed that no events can be held tomorrow (4 Nov.)," the organization wrote. "All #EuroCross23 events will now be rescheduled for Sunday A new schedule will be announced soon."

It is very likely that all six events will take place on Sunday, although this will most likely bring in logistical challenges that were not forecasted for organizers. Nevertheless, for the time being, it seems as if it will be possible to race on the final day of the weekend.
