A week after her victory in Niel,
Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado won her second victory in a row in the
Superprestige Merksplas. She isolated herself on the first lap and continued widening the gap.
"It may have seemed that way, but it was constant giving because, behind me, they did the same. And the lap was tough anyway," said Alvarado. She was trailing behind Marianne Vos but luckily by the end of the first lap she was in lead. "I was a bit lucky with that, it was kind of a good lead-out. She dropped back, after which I had free lane. I definitely took advantage of that," described Alvarado.
This is her second victory of the season. She took victory in Superprestige Niel last week. "You don't forget the first time winning again. That was very special, now I am pulling through. The form is good, so you expect a few things. But you are very happy when it comes out," said Alvarado.
She will, however, have little time to celebrate since she must prepare for World Cup Overijse. "I didn't really worry about that at all during the race it's recovering now, though and then trying to be as fresh as possible at the start tomorrow," concluded Alvarado.
