Ceylin Alvarado takes 2nd place in Beringen's Exact Cross: "I can be satisfied. I didn't expect to stay ahead of Shirin van Anrooij"

Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado finished second in the Exact Cross Beringen, after she had to let go of the later winner Fem van Empel in the second lap. For a moment, Alvarado seemed like she could follow her, but she chose not to.

"She accelerated the lead and I thought: if I follow it, I will blow myself up," Alvarado told WielerFlits after the race. "The race was still long," she shares her thoughts. "I continued to ride at my own pace. Today I fell just short, but I can be satisfied. I didn't expect to stay ahead of Shirin van Anrooij, but that was the case. That's really nice."

Alvarado has had a good and long summer period, in the run-up to this cross winter. "I mainly trained a lot and also raced on the mountain bike and on the road," she looks back.

Alvarado doesn't yet know what her winter will look like in broad terms. "It will be a bit of a wait and see. I want to see how things are going and use that to see what I can and cannot make out of it."
