Young woman was taken to hospital after being involved in a rider-spectator crash at Tour of Flanders

The nervousness in the peloton during the Tour of Flanders was enormous for a while. This caused a crash on the Hotond. Some riders crashed, but the biggest victim was a young woman along the road. She came into serious contact with one or more riders and had to be taken care of.

In the meantime, the spectator has been taken to the hospital in Ronse and is said to be conscious. After a while the positive news came that the woman was out of danger, Het Nieuwsblad reports.

The crash at the Hotond was not the only one in which the public was involved, because a little later there was another fall on a wide road where the public was close to the riders. Cees Bol hooked into a spectator, fell and took Brent Van Moer, Stefan Küng and Alessandro Covi with him in his crash. The UAE Team Emirates, suspecting a broken collarbone.
