Katarzyna Niewiadoma continues her upward trend at Tour of Flanders. Following 8th place in 2022 and 5th in 2023, this time Niewiadoma was in the direct contest for the win. However her chances weren't very good in an one-versus-two against Lidl-Trek's Elisa Longo Borghini and Shirin van Anrooij. Yet this second place gives the Canyon//SRAM lady a lot of confidence into Ardennes.
Niewiadoma already seemed to know that it wasn't going to be for the win for her. "It was such a tough race due to the weather conditions. I am happy with my podium finish, this promises a lot for the races to come," she told Eurosport.
"The condition is good and I really focused on the Tour of Flanders and the Ardennes. It was cool to unload everyone on the Paterberg with Elisa." Sadly for Niewiadoma, Longo Borghini's teammate Van Anrooij was able to catch back and outnumber the Pole in the final.
