Yellow jersey at Tour de France "would go down in the history books of Danish cycling" for Mads Pedersen

Mads Pedersen has his eyes on the Tour de France as the main goal for this season and Trek - Segafredo have worked with him on the aspects of aerodynamics required to have him race at the highest level in the opening day of the race.

"I've been in the wind tunnel to find the fastest helmet, suit and wheels. Everything has been fully tested to find what suits me best," Pedersen told dr.dk. The Dane will have a home start at the Tour de France, where the first stage will see a 13-kilometer time-trial and the next days will end in a sprint where he may be able to jump into the yellow jersey via bonifications.

“I have to be within the time frame where the bonus seconds can get me to the yellow jersey. The dream scenario, obviously, would be to win the time trial and be at the start of Roskilde [stage 2] in the yellow jersey. If I didn't believe it, I wouldn't have trained hard for it," he added. "It would really be something very big to happen with the yellow, and then it would go down in the history books of Danish cycling".

Pedersen has ridden two small races in Denmark - of which he won the Tour of Funen - and the Tour of Norway these past few weeks. His preparation route into the Tour de France isn't yet fully revealed, however he is likely to be heading to the national championships before the start in Copenhagen.
