With her long and storied career nearly well into its final chapter Annemiek van Vleuten has given the clearest indication yet as to exactly when she rider her last race and it won't be at the Glasgow World Championships.
"Last training done before UCI Cycling Worlds (with some traffic jam)," the 40-year-old Dutchwoman captioned an update to her official Instagram account. "It was an honour to wear the Rainbow Jersey in my last year. World Championships will not be my last race."
What would be her third and final World Championships road race victory, another Rainbow Jersey would be the perfect way to cap off what has been a successful final year in the peloton despite missing out on Tour de France Femmes podium last month.
"Will finish my career in September with my Movistar Team. Update about this later at my personal website," she concludes. "Going to enjoy my last World Championships. 2010 Geelong was my first one. Only missed one edition due to a heavy accident during training before Richmond."
