"We're celebrating a life today that was cut way too short" - Melissa Hoskins laid to rest in emotional ceremony

Former team pursuit world champion Melissa Hoskins was laid to rest in an emotional funeral ceremony on Wednesday in Australia.

Hoskins tragically passed away on December 30th when she was struck by a car that was allegedly driven by her husband, former Team Visma | Lease a Bike and INEOS Grenadiers rider, Rohan Dennis. Notably, Dennis and their two children were both in attendance at the funeral ceremony.

"Melissa's zest for living touched so many people," said the father of the 32-year-old in an emotional tribute. "We're celebrating a life today that was cut way too short. Melissa was just warming up. Her best performances were yet to come."

"I miss you everyday," added Hoskins' mother poignantly. "I may not carry you now in my arms but I will always carry you in my heart. I will always think of you when I'm cooking as the kitchen is a happy place for both of us. Vegemite and honey on toast will now be known as the Melissa breakfast."
