Everytime Primoz Roglic and Remco Evenepoel compete head to head, fireworks seem to happen ensuring a must watch race. Cyrille Guimard is already expressing his excitement ahead of their upcoming Giro d'Italia battle.
"The Giro is coming soon. I think there are two riders who will reach their top level, Roglic and Evenepoel," Guimard tells Cyclism'Actu. "What will make the difference will be the power of the teams. It is hard to know how things will go given the number of time trial kilometers we have on this Giro."
Alongside Guimard's excitement at the prospect of seeing Roglic and Evenepoel battle it out over three weeks across Italy, the Frenchman also contemplates the early season dominance of Jumbo-Visma and what it means for the rest of the peloton.
"The Jumbo-Visma team, on these Flandrian Classics is a notch above. They're now mastering these races perfectly, with the riders who have the talent to do so," he says. "The problem is that history does not always repeat itself and that the next two events are also a little different, especially since from one day to the next we are not necessarily at the same level. Things can change, races are different, adversity will be different..."
