The 2024 Simac Ladies Tour opened this Tuesday afternoon with an individual time trial around Gennep. In the end, the stage was won by Zoe Backstedt, but it was an incident involving Team SD Worx - ProTime's Lorena Wiebes that caught the eye.
As the Dutch sprinter star came powering around a bend with her head down in an aero position, suddenly a random, non-professional cyclist emerged from the other side of the road, casually on an afternoon ride or going to work, completely unaware of the elite bike race taking place around him.
Luckily, disaster was narrowly averted but you can see the images yourself in the video down below!
