With the majority of the big contenders for Flandres and Roubaix present, today is a major milestone for the classics riders to test their legs ahead of the big goals. With the Oude Kwaremont and the Paterberg making for decisive sections today, it will be the best indicator possible for the Tour de Flandres that takes place in under two weeks.
"It's really warm, for me it could be [better if it's] a little bit colder but it's the same for everyone. Think it's a nice race day, nice for the fans to be out," he added. Upon being asked about how his form compares to last year's which saw him win Milano-Sanremo, he had this to say: "Really hard to compare at the moment as I had to miss out on Sanremo, but maybe I can tell something more this evening."
