VIDEO - Ion Izagirre's father explains his experience of son's Tour de France stage win: "I got nervous and I took the dogs and went to the mountain"

José Ramón Izagirre, father of the professional cyclists Ion Izagirre and Gorka Izagirre, lived yesterday with great emotion the triumph of his son Ion in the Tour de France.

The former professional cyclocross rider commented after the stage on EITB that he was so nervous that the house became too small for him and he left for a few minutes with his dogs in the mountains to cope with the pressure. However, after receiving messages from some friends, he returned to watch the end of the stage and see Ion raise his arms:

"When I saw that Ion was escaping I got nervous and I took the dogs and went to the mountain. Then I started to get messages, that there were 10 kilometers to go, that he was going to win. Then I turned on my cell phone with 8 km or so to go and I saw the finish. I am very happy, very excited".
