The Italian fans have come out in force on the opening two stages of the 2024 Tour de France. Sadly, not all have been able to keep their hands to themselves.
On stage 2 of the 2024 Tour de France, taking the riders from Cesenatico to Bologna, an EF Education - EasyPost rider was the victim of an overzealous fan at a narrow point of the road. As the peloton flew past at high speed, a certain supporter held their arm a little too far out from the pavement, striking the EF Education - EasyPost rider in the back of the head. Thankfully, there was no mass crash on this occasion, but it's disaster narrowly avoided when it completely wasn't needed.
