Victor Lafay: "It really didn't work out. It's the right decision to quit, but I'm very disappointed"

Victor Lafay’s first Tour de France turned out to be a big disappointment for him. He had difficulties finishing the thirteenth stage and arrived in the last position, after which the Frenchman decided to quit the tour.

He was facing problems since the sixth stage of the tour. "Since stage six, it really didn't work out. It's the right decision to quit, but I'm very disappointed," Lafay told Cyclism'Actu. He continued, "I ended up on my own very quickly in stage 13. I tried, but I couldn't go any further. Maybe I would have still managed to arrive within the time, but then Saturday's stage would have been really fatal. It's the correct decision for my health."

Lafay wanted to win at least one stage in his first tour, but he will have to return empty-handed. "I really didn't progress. I had no strength left. I came to win a stage in the Tour, but I had to give up,” said Lafay.

Despite his disappointment in his first tour, he vows to come back to the tour again. "That's it, life goes on. There are other things coming up for me this season, but I will definitely come back here," concludes Lafay.
