Groupama-FDJ rider
Valentin Madouas started the
Tour de Luxembourg with victory and ended the race with another stage win. This is his third victory of the season, and all three of them were won this month only.
Madouas attacked in the final kilometer to overtake Mattias Skjelmose, “I came with a bit of speed, which allowed me to overtake him, and with the headwind, we then all stayed in our place,” explained the Groupama-FDJ rider.
He did not forget to credit his teammates for their hard work, especially Kevin Geniets, who supported him till the end. “All the riders in the team did a great job in their own way, we went all in with Kevin, and it worked out. That’s awesome. I was missing a victory, so to take three in a row is great!”
Madouas will now travel to Australia in order to participate in World Championships. “We will see what the tactics will be, what my role will be, but we will give everything to get a third consecutive jersey for the French team. Personally, I feel really good, and I hope to be able to be there in the final of the race. I’ve got good momentum,” concluded Madouas.
