UPDATE: Nico Denz & Patrick Gamper join Daniel Martinez in abandoning 2024 Vuelta a Espana, giving Primoz Roglic more problems on penultimate stage

Primoz Roglic might be back in the Red Jersey for stage 20 at the 2024 Vuelta a Espana but it's far from plain sailing for the Slovenian on the penultimate stage of this Grand Tour.

With the INEOS Grenadiers setting a fierce pace on the front of the peloton on third categorised climb of the day, Primoz Roglic was suddenly feeling very alone as the likes of Daniel Martinez, Patrick Gamper and Aleksandr Vlasov were struggling with over 100km still to go. Around 25km later, the sad news was confirmed that Martinez had now abandoned the race.

UPDATE

Another two men is now in the team car and on their way off the race as Nico Denz and the aforementioned Gamper have also abandoned the 2024 Vuelta a Espana. Worrying times for Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe.

Is there illness within the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe team? Is Roglic himself affected? Time will tell.
