Paul Magnier has been the dominant sprint force at the 2024 Tour of Britain. On this Saturday afternoon's stage 5, the prodigiously talented French youngster again impressed, taking his 3rd stage win of the race so far.
“I enjoyed it a lot!" reflected the 20-year-old with delight in his post-stage interview afterwards. "It was really hard to catch the break, Remco Evenepoel did everything, he’s a super fast rider as you know. Julian Alaphilippe brought me every time to the front and I saved a lot of energy there, and in the end I did my best, sprint for the victory.”
With Olav Kooij holding the Tour of Britain record for most stage wins in one edition, that coming twelve months ago, with four, Magnier can now hope to match the Dutchman's feat on Sunday's stage 6 finale to the 2024 edition. “Why not?” he concludes optimistically. “We’ll try, for sure. It’s already super nice to take three victories, but for sure tomorrow we’ll try to go again.”
