Toon Aerts undergoes surgery on broken nose after crash in Oostmalle

Having made his comeback to cyclocross in February after a two-year doping suspension, Toon Aerts is now undergoing surgery, having been diagnosed with a nasal fracture following a crash in Oostmalle at the end of last month.

The Deschacht - Hens - Maes rider made a strong return to competition with two fourth place finishes at the Waaslandcross in Sint-Niklaas and the final round of the X²O Badkamers Trofee in Brussels.

A statement by his team said “after his unfortunate fall in Oostmalle resulting in a diagnosed nasal fracture, Toon will undergo a minor surgical procedure today to straighten his nose. A brief recovery period will follow, after which he will resume training in preparation for his upcoming summer campaign. We wish Toon a speedy recovery”.
