Geraint Thomas finished the second week of the Giro d'Italia in the front group and remains second overall. The Welshman heads into the rest day remaining at the top of the established general classification contenders, 1:08 back on the Maglia Rosa of Bruno Armirail.
Thymen Arensman sums up today's stage in a post-race interview. "The last punchy climb was pretty hard, pretty intense, but we had a plan to put G in the front and he could follow the best, so that was really good. In overall, today was quite easy, nothing really happened in the GC. G showed he's in a really good shape. And we were there to support him. For us, it was a very good day."
While all eyes are on, currently, second place - Geraint Thomas, his loyal domestiques Thymen Arensman Laurens De Plus are performing very well too, successfully defending their positions in the general classification today. The two are 9th and 10th respectively, which means INEOS Grenadiers will be coming into the final week with multiple cards to play with and many are wondering, whether they find a good way to utilize them.
