Despite a brilliant and brave performance from Uno-X Mobility on the final stage at Tirreno-Adriatico 2024, Alexander Kristoff couldn't quite cap things off with a victory.
In the end, a close second behind Jonathan Milan was the best the Norwegian powerhouse could manage in a frantic final sprint. "Maybe I went a little too early," he reflects ruefully in his post-stage interview. "I was on the wheel in a good position but then Jasper Philpsen came and pushed me into the wind so I just thought I'd better start now rather than sit in the wind."
Uno-X Mobility also almost caught the sprinters by surprise when Kristoff let the wheel of his lead out man go, with Soren Waerenskjold momentarily having victory in his sights. "With a little less head wind, maybe it could have worked," smiles Kristoff. "There was a little bit of chaos and we almost took advantage of it."
