“There has been quite an impact but fortunately, he is out of danger" - Positive update for Lennard Kämna after collision with car during training ride

There was some worrying news on Wednesday as BORA - hansgrohe star, Lennard Kämna was rushed to hospital after being involved in a collision with a car during a training ride in Tenerife.

Although the 27-year-old German remains in hospital, BORA - hansgrohe's team boss Ralph Denk has given a reassuring and positive update to the three-time Grand Tour stage winner. "Lennard is fine, he can move everything," Denk explains in conversation with BILD. “There has been quite an impact but fortunately, he is out of danger."

Denk also shed more light on the actual incident that left Kamna lying in a hospital bed. “The accident was apparently not his fault. He collided with a car. According to my information this would have happened when turning," Denk says. "More information will be released today about his health and the course of the accident, after discussions with the police.”

Kamna was supposed to be preparing for a return to the Giro d'Italia, where he had hopes of another positive general classification performance although that may now be in doubt.
