The innaugural editions of
Copenhagen Sprint - a brand new Danish WorldTour classic are going to get underway this Saturday with women's race. However the main dish for home crowds will be the men's race on Sunday with their idol
Mads Pedersen leading the charge of
Lidl-Trek.
"I’m really looking forward to riding in front of the home crowd in Copenhagen Sprint, and I hope that a lot of cycling fans will come and see the race up close," Pedersen
told the race organizers about the debut edition of Denmark's first WorldTour race.
The winner of Points classification at the 2025 Giro d'Italia expects a tough competition for the first entry of Copenhagen Sprint's roll of honor: "It’s a World Tour race, so we’ll be up against some tough competitors, but I’m sure it’s going to be an exciting race, and the circuit gives the spectators in Copenhagen the opportunity to see us five times."
Pedersen has not raced since the final Giro stage in Rome, allowing himself to refuel before a bit of racing on home roads before another big objective later this summer - the Vuelta a Espana. "After a good break since the Giro, I feel strong and motivated, and hopefully we can give the fans a good show," the Danish rider concludes.
