Lennard Kämna's start at Giro d'Italia in danger after traffic accident during training

Lennard Kämna was involved in a traffic accident during a training ride in Tenerife. BORA - hansgrohe reports this in a press release. The German was taken to hospital, where he has undergone further examination.

"Lennard is okay, he can move with everything. But there has already been a proper impact. Fortunately, there is no danger to life," team boss Ralph Denk told Bild.

"The crash was apparently not his fault. He collided with a car, according to my information it is said to have happened when turning. Further information to be available on Thursday after talking with police about both Kämna's state of health and the course of the accident."

Kämna was in Tenerife to prepare for the Giro d'Italia (4-26 May). In the run-up to the Grand Tour, he would also ride the Tour of the Alps (April 15-19). It is not yet clear whether the 27-year-old German's program now needs to be adjusted.
